With 4 boys who all love sports, playing them can get expensive. I was so relieved to find a Play It Again Sports in Ann Arbor. They saved my budget! Ann Arbor's location is the best I have been to with a fantastic selection. They have high quality, gently used gear for such a reasonable price and some new gear for a great deal too.
I would highly suggest utilizing the store if you, your son, or daughter is trying out a sport for the first time, is very young, or seems to be growing out of equipment as quickly as you can buy it. It was also the greatest place for rollerblades, ice skates, shin guards, free weights, basketballs, bats, baseball gloves, and baseball helmets. Their golf club collection is also super impressive even for the little ones.
I have been especially impressed with the staff. They are knowledgeable and happy to answer any question I ask...which usually comes in very handy since I know less about boy sports gear than I probably should. Everything is an even better price if you can buy it off season, so try to think ahead. We got a GREAT pair of rollerblades for $7 there that were so much better than the ones we got at Target for $65. They also put out coupons in some of the mailers for $5 off a purchase of $25 or more. If you have old sports equipment, you can also get a credit or cash for trading it in.
One warning, if you or your children are playing something seriously, you may want new gear or be very particular about what you buy. We once bought a pair of soccer cleats that didn't last long and one of the bikes we bought had a pedal that broke within a few weeks and was too expensive to replace.
That being said, overall, it is a fantastic place to stock up for sports and outdoor fun.
If you go.
