Good Eats: Bangkok Cuisine Express III

photo via YELP
While I definitely enjoy a slow, luxurious dinner, oftentimes my husband and I just want to grab something quick that isn't fast food. When this happens and we are craving Thai, we love stopping by Bangkok Cuisine Express in a strip mall off Stone School Road. Our food is always hot, fresh, fast and good!

Insider Info.

Dial down the spice. Thai food is notoriously spicy, so start out with mild or if you are bringing your kids...super mild. The only time we have ever been unhappy with our order is when we forget that our American taste buds aren't ready for Thai spice.

Order a Thai Special. We have especially enjoyed the Masaman with chicken although the potatoes do make the dish a little salty ($8), the Gang Dang with beef ($8), the Green Vegetable Curry ($8) and the Pad Thai Noodles ($8). We have not tried the seafood or pork but will next time. Each dish was tasty, cooked well and filling.

Eat your greens. We ordered the Thai Salad with Tofu ($5). It was an extremely large portion and the vegetables were fresh and crisp but I did not love the peanut dressing. Next time, I will try the Asian Sesame Chicken Salad ($6) which sounds great.

Enjoy the presentation. While this is a walk up and order spot, they take great care with the food. Everything is served quickly but piping hot on glass plates and there is always a lovely presentation with a tower of rice or an artistic pile of noodles. It makes you almost forget your are in the middle of a strip mall.

Bring the family. My kids love the Pad Thai and the meals there are so easy to share. I think we could feed our family for under $35 and there are 6 of us! It is also a family friendly spot with high chairs and booster seats and the casual atmosphere makes it an easy spot to bring even less than perfect children.

Share or plan for leftovers. Almost no one at our table could finish their meal. The portions are extremely generous and we all took home enough for lunch the next day. We could have shared one entree, but Thai food tastes great the second day.

Try a drink or something new. The menu has some interesting bubble drinks and teas that look exciting. We have been happy with everything we have eaten but have not tried everything. I would love your recommendations.

If you go.

Bring a coupon. There is almost always a coupon in one of the monthly mailers, so cut it out and save on your meal. It makes the already fair prices even more amazing. We have also been able to catch a Groupon there.

Go on Tuesdays. On Tuesdays their dinner Pad Thai is only $5. The portion is large enough for at least two and it makes a very economically friendly weekday meal, especially if you add a little side salad at home.
